Perspective

We have been in Vegas this weekend. I was lucky enough to be invited to be part of a roundtable presentation at the National Council of Teachers of English on my doctoral work. Since Vegas isn’t a place to go alone, Bill came with me to make a romantic weekend of it.

Vegas will certainly put the world into perspective. We have a car and were fortunate to make the time to drive out to Red Rock Canyon. It was beautiful. I’d insert a few pics her but WordPress isn’t playing nice with my phone right now.

Being surround by mountains of petrified sand that are millions of years old and dwarf you, remind you of how inconsequential our lives really are in the grand scheme of it all.

This is important to remember when I get do caught up in something that has no real bearing on my life or the lives of those around me.

The world really is bigger than me and will still go on after I’m not.
