Up For Air

or procrastinating if you want to call it that.  I have been MIA lately and so many of my wonderful readers have dropped away.  I can’t blame them, since baby #2 entered the picture, I have had less and less time to think, let alone blog.  I miss it.  I miss all of you–even though over 60% of you are gone.  But, I won’t focus on that.  I didn’t start this blog with the aspirations that I would become widely read and I am lucky for the people I have met and who I now call friend.

I am sitting at the local bread co. supposedly working on my literature review.  I need to finish it today so that I don’t need to do it on vacation.  We leave tomorrow morning…7:45am.  I can’t wait.

Noah got into what was my first choice of schools and waitlisted for Bill’s and my mom’s first choice of schools.  I strongly believe  that everything happens for a reason and that he will be really happy at his new school.  And if for some reason he isn’t and we aren’t, we have the other school for next year.  I am happy and it is one less thing for me to worry about.

Job hunting.  Can I just say that it frickin’ sucks.  I hate job hunting.  Absolutely hate it.  I went to the teacher job fair at my university on Friday.  It went well, other than the waiting in line for hours to get brief face time.  I have a few leads and people seemed impressed with me, so who knows.  I did score an on-site screening interview and did really well.  The lady who interviewed me was ecstatic that I had an MA in English–as those are really hard to come by as most folks choose to get the M.ed.  So, we will see.   Most districts on are spring break this week or next so it will probably be end of the month or April before I hear about more interviews.  UGH.

Okay, I am quickly running out of time away from home.  I. Need. To. Write. My. Paper.  I don’t want to do it.  I haven’t done one before and I am really uncomfortable with it thus far.  I totally understand how my students feel.

We Did Our Best To Stimulate The Economy

this weekend.  We had a weekend spending spree to rival all middle class spending sprees.  It was great.

The weekend started early on Friday when we dropped the kids at the grandparents house at 5pm.  I was pleasantly pleased to find out that the kiddos would be spedning the night.  This was the first time that both kids had stayed at my dad and bonus mom’s house.  It has been just over 7 months since Zoë came home and since we had a night to ourselves completly.  It was the best Valentine’s day present ever.

We don’t celebrate Valentine’s day per se.  We celebrate the 13th and I am happy to say that 10 years ago on the 13th of February my wonderful husband presented me with a beautiful dark sapphire and diamond ring and asked me to be his wife.  It was great and wonderful.  This year on the 13th, I was presented with beautiful sapphire encrusted hoop earrings.  We had a great dinner at one of our favorite restaurants–it’s a chain sad to say but still completely awesome.

We slept in on Saturday–until nearly 9am.  I know crazy.  We then went to breakfast and shopping for a new bedroom set.  We found a great deal on a 3-piece bedroom set and also purchased 2 night stands and an additional dresser.  Then we went to the new Casino in town and ate lunch at the Burger Bar–where I had the best burger that I have had in a very long time–since I worked here in the 90’s.

The spending did not stop there.  We had to buy new bed linens to match the first bedroom set either of us have ever owned.  We bought new curtains and we finished painting our bathroom.  It looks great.  I’ll have to post before and after pictures when we are completly finished.

Snow Day!!!

We have gotten a lot of snow the last two days.  We went out yesterday and played in it.  It was Zoë’s first time in the snow.  On top of the beauty of the snow, I just have to cheer because I have a snow day–which means no class tonight.  I am so excited.  Yay!

Lame, Loser, Slacker…

Who is Dawn?  Yes.

Okay, so I’ve been a little absent lately.  I miss you all.  There are so few of you left still checking in, but that’s okay.  I love those of you who are left.

Can I just say one thing–it is frickin’ cold here.  It was 2 this morning when I went to the gym.  Too cold to be outside and too cold for there to be no snow in sight.  The cold sucks, but it really sucks without snow.

I am looking forward to Christmas this year.  It should be pretty exciting considering that Noah actually knows who Santa is this year.  We have a busy few days going from family event to family event on Christmas Eve and then on Christmas day we do breakfast for my dad and dinner with my mom–so that keeps me in the kitchen much of the day.

We are all doing well.  Zoë is weaned from the bottle.  She now uses a pacifier for sleeping but it’s going pretty smooth.  We hope to get her off the pacifier by spring.  We are hoping to get Noah to leave his for Santa–we’ll see how that goes.  The kids are keeping us busy and I have been pretty busy with my photography.  I have done quite a few shoots since the end of October and it’s nice to reach a little bit of a lull.

Well, I’m off to do some Christmas cleaning and make a few cookies for Santa.  I’ll be back more regularly.  Hope everyone has a safe holiday.
