Tag…I’m It!

Stacie tagged me a few days ago and I haven’t had the time to devot to really pondering what ten things I am really thankful for.  It’s hard to pick out ten.  So here they are in no particular order….

  1. I am thankful for my husband’s complete and total love and acceptance of who I am.  We both come from divorced parents and to have him and know that our marriage is as good as we choose to make it comforts me. He makes me laugh and is one of the best dad’s around.  He is so great with our kids and the love that radiates from him fills our house with warmth and comfort.  I love you baby…in all of your total goofiness.
  2. I am very thankful for adoption and the family it has provided for us.  I often tell Noah and Zoë that they are what make us a family and it is true.  Without them we are just a couple.  I am very thankful for my family.  Noah and Zoë are so very different and so amazing.  They wow me each day with their personalities and actions.  I could go on and on about Noah and Zoë but really I think you all know, how I feel about them and their monthly newsletters are coming up in a few days–I’ll gush independently about them then.
  3. I am thankful for TIVO.  I don’t know what I did before TIVO. I am so inlove with being able to watch what I want when I want.  It rocks.  If you don’t have it and watch TV, what are you waiting for?–Get it.
  4. I am thankful for my fellow wanna mom’s whom I had the pleasure of meeting IRL at our first Wannafest–ladies we need to start planing our next one?  How’s Colorado sound?  These women–Anne, Steph, Ginger, and Blaine are wonderful women and their kids are great too.  It’s nice that our kids share a common bond and even though they aren’t blood relatives, we call them cousins.  You ladies rock.
  5. I am thankful for diet soda and good diet soda.  I remember when TAB and Shasta were the only diet soda’s on the market and they tasted like ass–or at least what I imagine ass tastes like.  I am a diet soda junkie.  I don’t know what I would do with it.
  6. I am thankful to have the tremendous opportunity and responsibility to be part of EOR and to get to work with the dedicated and amazing women who do so much and work so hard–I am humbled by them and long to be able to dedicate more time to our efforts.
  7. I am thankful for my health and the health of my family and those that I love.  I have been lucky so far in my life that all of those whom I love have lived long and happy lives and that I still have two grandmothers and my kids have all of their grandparents–I hope this continues.
  8. I am thankful for my doggies and cat and again for my hubby letting me bring home two dogs that picked me at a golf course–only a week after we closed and moved into our house.  Is that fate or what?  I love my doggies and cat.  The dogs–chip and putt–are the best dogs ever.  They are so well-behaved and good with our kids.  It is awesome.
  9. I am thankful for technology–I know weak, but I am. HD– I love…L.O.V.E tv and it is awesome in HD.  I would have a 72″ tv if I lived in a house where it wouldn’t be too big and HD just makes it so much better.  My iPhone–really do I have to even explain that.  My computer–again no words needed.
  10. I am thankful to Noah and Zoë’s birth mothers.  They are amazing, courageous, strong women who did what they felt they had to.  I am sorry they felt they had too, but am also very grateful because these two children fit into our lives seamlessly and truly were meant to be our children.

I am now suppose to tag 5 people–but if you have been around here long enough you now that I don’t tag people.  I just don’t.  So please feel free to consider yourself tagged and leave a comment telling me you did it.

7 Things

I was tagged for a 7 fact Meme by Jen.

Here are the rules:

  • List the rules on your blog.
  • Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog.
  • Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
  1. My hubby was only my second serious “grown-up” boyfriend.  I was never much for dating–to be quite honest I was horrible at dating.  I just never really saw the point.  Thank goodness I am very happily married, or I am sure I would be forever single.
  2. I am working toward my doctorate in Education and hope to revolutionize the way we teach teachers to teach writing and the way we use writing as a tool for learning in schools.  I am very passionate about it–don’t ask me about it unless you want a really really long rant.
  3. I am a closet writer–in the sense that I long to have a novel published.  I use to write quite consistently before I began a career in teaching and mothering.  Now I don’t write much, but I am constantly thinking of new story ideas and planning on when I really have (make) time for writing.
  4. I will be 37 in 4 weeks and am just now beginning to feel old.  Yet, I still feel like a kid and often forget exactly how old I am.  When people ask me how old I am I often have to think very long and hard about it before I give an answer and sometimes my answer is still wrong.
  5. I love to dance and love to sing.  But I am so bad at both of these things that I cannot risk doing them in public.  I do them in the privacy of my own home and even now my son often tells me to stop singing.  It is sad when a two-year-old tells you to stop singing.
  6. I love to cook and am quite talented at it when I have the time.  I am not chef creative, but I can pick out a recipe and make it my own and make it delicious.  I love to entertain with good food and good wine (another obsession of mine…good wine.  I love good wine and refuse to drink anything but).  I wish I had more time to cook and more time for entertaining.  But half of the time, I can’t even get dressed before noon–so entertaining is not really an option at this point.  One day.
  7. I love country music and listen to almost nothing but that (except the occasional kids music cd–you know the ones that make you want to poke someone’s eyes out).  I wish I had time or the inclination to listen to more up to date music, but I don’t.  I have lots of music from the 80’s and 90’s that I still listen to in addition to country but no real new music.  I wouldn’t even know where to start and before you ask, yes I do have itunes.

Well, there you have 7 things about me.  It was hard to do and I wanted to do some things that were not things I write about often.  I am not a good finisher of things—which means I very rarely tag people to do the memes I have been tagged to do.  So, if you are reading and you are so inclined to reveal 7 things about yourself do so and leave me a comment and link in the comment to your seven amazing facts.
