My Maytag Repair Man of Day 6

maytag-repair-man.JPG

We all got a good nights sleep last night–hooray.  I did manage to stay up until just after 10 so that I could watch Weeds.  I am starting to feel a cold come on, but I am going to deny it the ability to put roots down.  I. Will. Not. Get. Sick.  There, I think that just might work.

I am excited by the prospect of some coffee I have coming  this month.  I am getting a 1/2 lb. of Peets Jamiaca Blue Mountain.  I cannot wait to taste it freshly brewed.  I don’t know how often I mention my love for coffee.  I. LOVE.COFFEE. And coffee for me is like wine or cheese.  I love good or should I say excellent coffee.  I am a bit of a coffee snob.  I think I picked that up along with my wine snobbery from living in Santa Barbara.  I will gladly keep it up as there are somethings that should be the best.

What are you snobbish about?

  1. I’m glad you got some sleep–us, not so much. And I have the cold that’s threatening you. Blah. But I also love good coffee, not that I can drink it anymore in my present condition. I’m also a fan of Peets. I’m also a snob about coffee and cheese, and good food in general. Bryan and I both about choked when we were at his mom’s house and she described her “doctored up Stove Top” stuffing recipe. Gag. I’m the person who makes homemade bread to make my homemade stuffing. I’m serious about food. Along those lines, also a snob about organic fruits, veggies and dairy products.

  2. I’m snobby about good dark chocolate. It’s gotten so bad that I couldn’t even enjoy any of the “run of the mill” Halloween candy my kids brought home. Snickers tastes horrible to me now…how sad is that?

  3. congrats on getting some shuteye, and i hope you fend off that cold.

i’m a wine snob, which is a bit of a drag. it’s only because i worked in the business for a few years and developed a decent palate. now i wish i didn’t, so i could just drink the cheap stuff. 🙂

  4. Ah, coffee snobbery. I’m insufferable when it comes to my first coffee of the day — it has to be just so, or I get really pissy. I can have sub-standard coffee after that and survive, but that first one has to be perfect.

I’m also a snob about creme brulee and flan. And New Mexican food.

I cook with wine but I generally don’t drink it, so left to my own devices I’m pretty lost. What I usually do is just buy the wine at Costco that some expert wine-tasting publication rated 90 or 92 or whatever. (you’re probably cringing right now!)
