My newest daughter joined us from Ethiopia in February at age 10. While watching the pretty well known DVD “One Family” (the one with Meskerem from Layla House), my daughter seemed enraptured. “That’s me!” she said, delighted. “Her?” I asked, thinking she was identifying with Meskerem, who is also a 10y.o. girl adopted from Ethiopia. My daughter shook her head no.
“That girl. On the side of the road. The one without shoes. That’s me.”
