So, after years and years of being a Mac hater. I am not a Mac lover. I know. I know. I know that you all knew this years ago and us PC people just don’t listen. With my new job, I was give the choice between a MacBook or a PC laptop. I chose the MacBook as I really wanted to see what the fuss was all about and to get the opportunity to see if I would like a Mac. I have been moving closer and closer to wanted to become a Mac lover since I got my iPhone, but haven’t had the money to drop on a MacBook considering I have a perfectly functioning PC laptop that is only about two years old and then we just purchased a new desktop for a rock bottom price and the price tag for a Mac will take your all ready over-extended breath away. So, my MacBook Pro came in today and I haven’t stopped playing with it. It is fun and I am having a good time with it. I am going to check out some of the apps that it comes with–iphoto, imovie, garage band–and see what this thing can really do. So all of you MacBook Pro users/experts out there. If you have any advice I’d love to hear it.
I have a MacBook! Welcome to the cult. My husband converted me a few years ago!

I’m with you! I still have a pc for office but often times (like now) bring my MACBOOK in cause somethings are just easier (read: funner) on the mac! I’m still learning myself (after 3 years) but if you have any questions let me know!

I make lots of movies for/about the kids using IMovie, and I really love it. I call it my “creative computer” though, as I don’t really love doing regular work on it (i.e., stuff I’d do on Microsoft). I don’t even like surfing the web on it, and I’m not sure why. The thing about IPhoto that drives me crazy is each photo is automatically given a number on upload, and then sorted by date–not exactly helpful when you’re trying to find a picture of “Amelie swinging” to upload to a website (when you’re uploading, there aren’t any previews, just the random numbers). Maddening! Photo booth is a hoot–great way to kill some time with the kids. You can manipulate the pictures, Amelie loves it. I’ve created podcasts for work stuff using garage band and uploaded them–easy enough. Website program is cool, but not customizable at all–so that’s annoying. You can’t add meta tags to a website, for example. Which is kinda the point, but whatever. We love the built in camera for Skyping. The magnet that attaches the cord seems brilliant until you have two little kids who look at it cross eyed and it falls out (and my battery has already died after 2 years, so when the cord pops out, I’ve lost my work). My memory is way to low to store more than 3 movies on it at once–again, annoying. I had to buy an external hard drive and more memory.
In sum, I can’t imagine making a movie on anything else–it’s really so very easy–but everything else doesn’t really blow my skirt up.
